GoFundMe launched to assist family of P.A. homicide victim

May 14, 2021 | 11:57 AM

A little more than two days after a Prince Albert man’s lifeless body was found, an online fundraising campaign has been initiated to assist the family with costs related to funeral expenses and travel.

Braden Herman’s body was found Tuesday evening. Police had been called to a wooded area within the city limits.

The 26-year-old was living in the city at the time of the incident but is originally from Clearwater River Dene Nation in Northwest Saskatchewan.

The online fundraiser was created by Braden’s older half brother Brett Herman.

“The funds will be used for a headstone and something in my late brothers memory. Travel expenses are quite costly considering I am unemployed at the moment,” he explained.

Bernie Herman, 53, a long time member of the RCMP, who was most recently working in the traffic services division of the Prince Albert RCMP, has been charged with first degree murder.

He made his first court appearance Thursday and was remanded to May 26.
