City releases new five-year strategic plan

May 12, 2021 | 9:50 AM

The City of North Battleford has officially finalized its strategic plan for the next five years.

Council approved the document covering 2021 to 2025 at its meeting this week, after making a couple of minor amendments.

Essentially it provides the guiding principles for city governance for the future.

The plan outlines seven key values for the city to maintain: collaboration, communication, integrity, respect, trust, professionalism and accountability.

The report indicated as the city develops programs and initiatives to implement its strategic plan, it will also incorporate these values.

When he introduced the strategic plan, City Manager Randy Patrick said it’s a document council has worked on over a number of meetings.

“The strategic goals here are to provide quality infrastructure, sustainability, economic vitality, a healthy and safe community, organizational excellence, a regional hub, excellence in governance and citizen-focused services,” he said.

Patrick added introducing the city’s vision is also a core reason for the plan.

According to the document, the city’s vision is to serve as the regional centre of Saskatchewan’s North West for business, recreation, culture, healthcare, education, career and economic opportunity. The city aims to be a diverse community “where cultures, beliefs and history are celebrated,” and residents are engaged, healthy, and “proud to call North Battleford home.”

“All of those goals are meant to help create that vision,” Patrick said.

He thanked city staff for helping prepare the document that will be available on the city’s website.

“It is something that becomes the core of what we do over the next five years, for what council wishes us to achieve,” Patrick said.
