SK 4 Dorintosh named worst road in Saskatchewan

The 2021 CAA’s Worst Roads Saskatchewan campaign results were announced today, with Saskatchewan HWY 4 through Dorintosh at the number one spot.
The campaign is designed to highlight roads in need of repair throughout the province. Motorists, cyclists, pedestrians, and motorcyclists participated in nominating and voting on the worst roads they’d traveled. Saskatchewan has 250,000 kilometres of roads, the highest length of road surface compared to any other province.
Other entries in the top 10 included Saskatchewan HWY 9 through Hudson Bay at third (which placed fifth in 2018) and Saskatchewan 340 through Hafford at fifth.
Potholes and crumbling pavement remained the two biggest issues identified by participants. According to the recent CAA’s Cost of Poor Roads in Canada Study, the average Canadian driver pays an extra $126 per year, which over a 10-year period of a car’s lifespan, adds up to around $1,260. The average annual cost per driver in Saskatchewan is $97, totaling just under $1,000 in a decade.
