The city will see more growth in a rapidly developing part of the community in the near future.

North Battleford city council approved a land sale to Discovery Co-op at its meeting this week.

The company submitted an offer to purchase property at 609 Carlton Trail for $480,000, with the exception they be permitted a little bit longer to start construction as the company first must enter into agreements with any groups that currently have restrictions on the land.

The property is located between the North Battleford Walmart store and the Credit Union CUplex.

City director of corporate services Jennifer Niesink said administration is happy with the amount of the offer received.

Mayor David Gillan mentioned the purchase is subject to a contract agreed by the city.

Gillan is pleased to see more activity coming to this part of North Battleford. The city has been working on this project for some time and finally agreed on the terms and conditions of the contract with Discovery Co-op.

“Council has invested a lot in that area,” Gillan said. “It’s nice to see it filling up. We’re very happy to be able to work with the Co-op on a development there. That’s excellent. We’re very excited and happy to be getting more development in our city.”

When reached by battlefordsNOW, Discovery Co-op was not able to discuss their plans for the site at this time.
