Four facing drug, firearms related charges following Lloydminster RCMP traffic stop

Three adults and a youth are facing numerous charges following an RCMP traffic stop in Lloydminster, Alta.

Police reported March 5 that Lloydminster General Investigations Section officers located a stolen vehicle in Lloydminster at about 12 p.m. on Feb. 25, which was believed to be connected to a prior serious occurrence in the area.

The vehicle fled when police attempted to stop it north of Lloydminster.

Lloydminster officers, along with assistance from the North Battleford Crime Reduction Team and Lloydminster Police Dog Services located and arrested the occupants of the vehicle shortly afterwards. After searching the vehicle, police recovered large amounts of drugs, firearms and weapons.

Four individuals are facing charges.

Matthew Stanley, 27, of Onion Lake, Sask., Kashtin Sandfly, 21, of Onion Lake, Sask., and Samuel Kiseyinewakup, 19, of Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation, Sask., are charged with flight from peace officer; possession of restricted firearm without a licence; possession of firearm in a motor vehicle; possession of property obtained by crime less than $5,000; possession of controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking; possession of property obtained by crime for the purpose of trafficking under $5,000; possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose; careless use of a firearm; and possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine).

Stanley is also charged with driving while prohibited; dangerous operation of motor vehicle; possession of weapon contrary to an order; obstruction of peace officer; and unauthorized possession of a weapon.

Sandfly has additional charges of possession of a firearm knowing the possession is unauthorized and unauthorized possession of a firearm.

Kiseyinewakup has additional charges of unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of a weapon contrary to order.

A 17-year-old male youth, of Big Island Lake Cree Territory, Sask., is facing the following charges under the Youth Criminal Justice Act: flight from peace officer; possession of restricted firearm without a licence; possession of firearm in a motor vehicle; possession of property obtained by crime less than $5,000; possession of controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking; possession of property obtained by crime for the purpose of trafficking under $5,000; possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose; careless use of a firearm; possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine); possession of a weapon contrary to order; and failing to comply with conditions of a release order.

Stanley was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Lloydminster Alberta Provincial Court March 16.

Sandfly and Kiseyinewakup were released by a Justice of the Peace, however they failed to appear for court March 2. There are currently warrants issued for their arrests.

The youth was released by a Justice of the Peace and is scheduled to appear in Lloydminster Alberta Provincial Youth court March 15.

The allegations against the accused individuals have not been proven in court.
