A joint investigation of multiple break and enters, conducted by multiple groups within Alberta and Saskatchewan RCMP, has resulted in the arrest of a man in the Rural Municipality of Britannia.

The Frenchman Butte Enhanced Policing Unit headed the investigation, along with several affected detachments and specialized units, following a series of eight break and enters throughout west central Saskatchewan and eastern Alberta December 2019 and February 2020. The crimes targeted small businesses with ATMs either inside the business or in the lobbies of the buildings, all with a smimilar method; using a vehicle to gain entry to the building where the ATMs, cash registers and other small goods would be taken or damaged. As a result, significant property damage occurred in each location.

On July 22, police executed a search warrant at a residence in the RM of Britannia and found further evidence linking the suspect to these break and enters. They also seized a stolen firearm, 3.75 pounds of cannabis and 203 cannabis plants in varies stages of growth.

Daniel Dean of the RM of Britannia has been charged with four counts of break and enter, possession of a stolen firearm, careless storage of a firearm, possession of a firearm without a license, possession of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking and possessing more than four plants. Dean has also been charged from Alberta with four counts of break and enter.
