Battlefords ECIP offers movie night out at Capitol Annex Theatre

The Battlefords Early Childhood Intervention Program (ECIP) will be offering a free movie viewing Thursday (Feb. 18) at 6:45 p.m. at the Capitol Annex Theatre.

The film The Boss Baby will be open to the public in support of the Battlefords & Area Literacy Pop-up Project, which has donated 200 books to the cause. Each family who attends will also receive a free book to take home.

Executive director with ECIP, Colleen Sabraw said the organization is happy to partner with the theatre to host the evening’s event, because it offers families in the community a chance to get out of the house for a night and enjoy some time together.

“It is a good feeling because there’s very little for families to do right now,” she said. “With this event they get to enter into the theatre free of charge because of our sponsorship; they get a book, they can get some popcorn and just have some enjoyment with something to do outside of their home.”

This will be the third free movie showing offered by the Battlefords ECIP since the fall, in an effort to connect with the community, even amidst the ongoing pandemic.

All separate family groups will be socially distanced within the theatre Thursday, with the potential to open a second screening of the film in an adjacent theatre room if required, based on turnout.

Sabraw said families planning to attend should just be mindful of the COVID-19 guidelines and make sure to arrive wearing a mask, to ensure a safe night of entertainment for all.

“It’s all done within the standards of Saskatchewan Health and recommendations for COVID, so everybody can come in and enjoy the movie together as a family, knowing they’re safe within the environment,” she said.

The Boss Baby is a 2017 Dreamworks Animation film. For more information, residents can call the Capitol Theatre, or Battlefords Early Childhood Intervention Program or find them on Facebook.
