Traffic stop results in significant methamphetamine seizure near Maidstone
Maidstone RCMP seized a significant amount of illicit drugs during a traffic stop Tuesday evening.
Around 7:30 p.m., a vehicle travelling east on Highway 16 near Maidstone, was stopped by police for speeding and swerving over the shoulder line. During conversation with the lone male driver, a substance suspected to be cocaine was located in plain view of police, resulting of the driver’s arrest.
A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed approximately two kilograms of suspected methamphetamine, 104 grams of suspected cocaine, illicit cannabis and Canadian Currency. According to a release by the Maidstone RCMP, this amount of methamphetamine could result in approximately 20,000 doses for an average user.
As a result of this investigation, 44-year-old Sam Ingram from Edmonton, Alta., has been charged with possession of cocaine and methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of illicit cannabis; and possession of proceeds of crime.
