Multiple LSSD schools report COVID-19 cases, NBCHS moves to Level 4

Jan 12, 2021 | 5:15 PM

The Living Sky School Division (LSSD) has announced North Battleford Comprehensive High School (NBCHS) is imposing Level 4 restrictions of the Safe Schools Plan, following increased COVID-19 exposure.

Starting on Wednesday, NBCHS will move to Level 4 effective immediately, meaning students will engage in off-campus learning on a full-time basis for their regular curriculum. This will be in place until January 22. The decision was made after consultation with the Regional Medical Health Officer, following five positive cases at the school since January 8.

Classroom teachers will be contacting their students with their individual learning plans by tomorrow morning. NBCHS has around 940 students.

Positive cases at Maymont, Lawrence Elementary

Cases of COVID-19 were diagnosed in two more individuals within LSSD, one at Maymont Central School and one at Lawrence Elementary School in North Battleford.

The division is working closely with Public Health and contact tracing has begun, as well as deep cleaning/sanitizing. At this time, both schools remain open.

No further details are being shared at this time to protect the privacy of the individuals. As of January 12, there are 18,770 positive cases of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan, including 3,752 active cases, as well as 14,814 recoveries and 204 deaths.
