Let’s Talk About Dementia – Alzheimer Awareness Month

Jan 8, 2021 | 9:07 AM

Our January Awareness month is about raising awareness about dementia and challenging the stigma that continues to persist in our communities.

By highlighting the importance that dialogue plays when it comes to discussing dementia, we want to create conversations that have the power to break down stigma, encourage the first step towards accessing support and services, as well as receiving a timely diagnosis.

We encourage you to get involved and learn more about how you can make a difference in reducing stigma by better understanding of the lived experience of people with dementia.

We all have a role to play.

Easy things you can do:
Watch our video with Ida Ryhorchuk in conversation with our Director of Programs and Services Joanne Michael. Recorded for the November 2020 Dementia Summit hosted by the Rural Dementia Action Research Team (RaDAR). Ida Ryhorchuk, diagnosed with vascular dementia, shares her lived experience of her warning signs, diagnosis, the importance of learning about the disease and being connected and involved with the Alzheimer Society. https://youtu.be/B9sD77ncmMM
