Light of Christ Catholic Schools is alerting the public of a positive COVID-19 case at St. Mary School in North Battleford and at John Paul II Collegiate High School.

According to a media release, the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) informed the school division on Dec. 18 about the case at St. Mary and the division is working with public health to inform all parents.

Then, on Dec. 20 officials with the SHA informed the school division about a positive COVID-19 case at John Paul II Collegiate High School.

The SHA has also begun contact tracing. They will not be able to share anymore details to protect the privacy of the individual.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with this member of our school community, and we hope they are doing well,” the division said in the release. “This case reminds us that we all have a shared responsibility to decrease the risk of COVID-19 entering schools. Plans for a safe return to school contain many important measures, processes, and protocols. Students and families are reminded to be diligent in performing the daily health screening, stay home if you are ill, call HealthLine 8-1-1 if you are exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms, practice proper hand hygiene, maintain physical distancing as much as possible, wear a mask when appropriate, and do all we can to keep each other safe.”
