Battlefords RCMP execute significant drugs, weapons seizure

Following the execution of two unrelated search warrants on Nov. 21 in North Battleford, RCMP seized significant amounts of drugs and weapons and charged five individuals with multiple offences.

The first search warrant, to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA), was executed at a residence on the 1800 block of St. Laurent. The Saskatchewan RCMP Emergency Response Team entered the residence without incident and arrested three adult males and three adult females. Three men and three women were arrested inside the residence and in the yard. A search of the residence resulted in the seizure of several items including one firearm, ammunition, approximately three grams of suspected crystal meth, approximately $500 in cash, brass knuckles and a knife. All of the individuals were interviewed, three were released without charges and three made their first court appearance on Nov. 23.

Forty-four year-old Sheldon Johnstone is facing five charges, including careless storage of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm contrary to an order. Twenty-seven year-old Blake Johnstone is facing eight charges, some of which include careless storage of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm and four counts of possession of a firearm. Eighteen year-old Sierra Stone is facing charges for an outstanding warrant for firearms offences. She was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court again on Feb. 1, 2021, while the Johnstone’s will appear in court on Nov. 25.

Second search warrant executed on Scott Drive in North Battleford

Immediately following the first search warrant, police executed a second, this time for handgun and ammunition possession, at a residence located on the 10000 block of Scott Drive.

ERT arrived at the residence around 5:45 a.m., along with Police Dog Services. Two adult males and two adult females were arrested outside the residence without incident. A search of the residence resulted in the seizure of several items, some of which include, approximately 9.8 lbs of prepackaged cocaine in vacuum sealed bags, approximately 350 grams of marijuana, a firearm with two loaded magazines and over $25,000 in cash.

Police completed interviews and two individuals were released without charges. Two 22 year-old North Battleford residents, Kage Pooyak and Teshina Nahbexie, have been charged with multiple offences. These include possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition, possession of property obtained by crime, unauthorized possession of a restricted firearm, unsafe storage of a firearm and possession of a prohibited weapon.

Both individuals were released and are scheduled to appear in court in North Battleford on Dec. 29, 2020.

The North Battleford RCMP Gang Task Force, North Battleford RCMP Municipal General Investigation Section and the Saskatchewan RCMP Emergency Response Team worked together to execute the two warrants, with the assistance of the North Battleford Provincial General Investigation Section and Police Dog Services.The investigations into the results of the execution of both search warrants are ongoing.
