North Stars games versus Bombers, Mustangs postponed

Nov 23, 2020 | 12:59 PM

There have been some schedule changes for the North Stars this week, as the ongoing pandemic continues to cause adjustments on the fly in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL).

The Battlefords North Stars will not be playing the Flin Flon Bombers this week, to make up for the pair’s two games from the weekend that were postponed. The Stars will also see an alteration to their games this weekend, as the team will not play Melfort either, due to a COVID-19 exposure within the Mustangs’ organization.

No Bombers this week

Following the postponement of the teams’ back-to-backs over the weekend, the Stars and Bombers were hopeful to reschedule for Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, granted the Bombers’ approval from the Sask. Government and Health Authority to relocate to Saskatchewan., for the remainder of the season.

The approval though was not given this weekend, leaving plenty of uncertainty surrounding the potential fate of the Bombers’ season. This, after Manitoba announced the closure of all indoor sporting and recreation facilities until further notice, as of earlier this month.

No Mustangs this weekend

The Stars will also not be playing the Melfort Mustangs this weekend. In a social media release, the Mustangs revealed the postponement is due to ‘a COVID-19 exposure’ to one of the Mustangs’ players.

Further schedule adjustments could be made to see the North Stars still return to action this weekend. Stay tuned to battlefordsNOW for the latest developments as they become available.
