Dekker Centre offering live-stream ticket sales for Jeffery Straker’s Christmas show

Anyone who was not able to purchase tickets for the sold-out Jeffery Straker Very Prairie Christmas show at the Dekker Centre still has an opportunity to see the event live online.

General Manager Kali Weber said starting today the Dekker Centre will offer livestream ticket sales to events, including Saskatchewan singer-songwriter Straker’s show Dec. 6.

Weber said she and the Dekker Centre board looked at the numbers for rising COVID-19 cases in the province and “decided we needed to create a plan to continue to offer performing arts to our community, but keep people as safe as we possibly can.”

“We have been able to source some really great live-streaming equipment,” she added.

The North Battleford performing arts venue has a limited capacity of 120 seats currently, due to the province’s COVID-19 restrictions.

Any individuals who have booked a seat for the Straker show have the option of switching to a virtual show instead, if they would feel more comfortable.

“We have gone above and beyond following the Re-Open Saskatchewan plan outlined by our provincial government,” Weber said. “We mandated masks in October before it was done province-wide. So it’s important for us to do everything we can to present events safely.”

Weber said the new equipment can be used for Dekker Centre rentals, conferences and meetings as well.

The new state-of-the-art technology will provide high-quality live-streams.

“We know that until at least June we will offer a live-streaming component to each of our shows, so that you can purchase tickets for in person or live stream,” Weber said.

Having the live-stream option available to people “means we are a little bit more accessible to all members of our community, especially those who may not feel totally comfortable attending a performance in person,” she said.
