SHA limits visitation at River Heights Lodge

Nov 12, 2020 | 10:33 AM

The Saskatchewan Health Authority announced Wednesday that visitation, or presence, from family at River Heights Lodge in North Battleford will be limited to compassionate reasons only, effective immediately.

This is due to concerns regarding COVID-19. Compassionate care reasons at this time for the long-term care home may include, but are not limited to, family or support persons during end-of-life-care and long-term residents whose quality of life or care needs are unmet. No other visitors will be allowed into the facility and these limitations will remain in place until it is safe to lift them and return to earlier levels of family presence.

Any family members and support people who are permitted into the home just undergo a health screening prior to entering. which includes a temperature check and questionnaire. That person will also have to either wash or sanitize their hands when entering or leaving both the home and a resident’s room, as well as a medical grade mask and potentially additional personal protective equipment if required. All family members and support people are also not permitted to wait in waiting rooms or other common areas.

The SHA continues to urge local residents, as well as across the province, to follow public health measures and personal safety precautions.
