Neither snow, nor rain...

Busy day at North Battleford polling station despite snow

Nov 9, 2020 | 9:09 PM

Snowy roads did not seem to be a problem for many residents who travelled to the Civic Centre on election day to vote in the North Battleford municipal election.

Due to COVID-19 precautions, the city had one polling station on election day Monday to allow for social distancing and other protocols.

North Battleford resident Kahra Price said she had no problem getting out to vote despite the weather, since her brother-in-law who has a truck drove her.

“I think it’s important to get out to vote,” she said. “I mean there are a lot of people who can’t vote. So I am exercising my right to vote today.”

In the last few minutes before 8 p.m. a few more people were still drifting in to cast their votes.

While the final numbers were not available, just over 1,000 people had voted so far on election day at the Civic Centre by about 7:45 p.m. with more still coming up to the hour.
