North Stars continue to bolster blue line in trade with Klippers

Nov 3, 2020 | 4:32 PM

The Battlefords North Stars made another move Tuesday in an effort to solidify its blue line, ahead of Friday’s season opener in Kindersley.

The North Stars acquired 19-year-old defenceman, Sam Witt from the rival, Kindersley Klippers, in exchange for a 4th Round draft pick in 2021.

A Calgary, Alta. product, Witt split last season between the Klippers and Canmore Eagles of the Alberta Junior Hockey League.

Witt (5-11, 185 lbs) will bring another puck moving presence with experience to a very young North Stars defense core this season.

The move comes less than a week after the Stars added fellow 19-year-old, Riley Little from Waywayseecapo of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League, last Thursday.

More on Thursday’s trade for Little can be found toward the bottom of the page, here.

The North Stars will kick off their regular season schedule this weekend, with a home-and-home versus the Klippers. Friday’s game will be played in Kindersley, while Saturday will serve as the Stars’ home opener at the North Battleford Civic Centre.

Both games this weekend will be broadcast on 1050 CJNB. The NAPA Auto Parts North Stars Hockey Broadcast will begin at 7 p.m. both nights.
