Positive COVID-19 case at John Paul II Collegiate

The John Paul II Collegiate High School is informing the public, the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) has confirmed they have a positive COVID-19 case in the school.

According to a media release from Light of Christ Catholic Schools, they are working to inform parents and caregivers of the situation in collaboration with Public Health .

The SHA has begun contact tracing and they are not able to share details to protect those involved.

“Plans for a safe return to school contain many important measures, processes and protocols, ” the school district said in a media release. “Students and families are reminded to be diligent in performing the daily health screening, stay home if you are ill, call HealthLine 811 if you are exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms, practice proper hand hygiene, maintain physical distancing as much as possible, wear a mask when appropriate, and do all we can to keep each other safe.”

Editor’s note: this story was amended later Thursday evening to reflect a correction sent to the media by Light of Christ Catholic Schools. There is one individual who tested positive, not multiple cases as reported by the school division earlier.
