SJHL receives green light to begin play

It is a day, or night, hockey fans across the province have been eagerly anticipating for some time.

The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) announced Friday evening, they have been approved to start play effective immediately.

As stated in the official league release on social media, all SJHL teams will have a maximum capacity of 150 fans allowed in attendance. All fans will also be required to wear masks.

Teams are currently scheduling exhibition games to be played between now and Nov. 1, at which point the league will be allowed to begin regular season play.

The post also states attendance for regular season games has yet to be determined.

The news comes following the release of the Saskatchewan Hockey Association’s (SHA) Return to Play Guidelines last week. The guidelines highlighted the potential for junior teams in the province to begin preseason play as early as Oct. 17; with regular season games eligible to start as soon as Nov. 1.
