North Battleford property taxes due September 30

Sep 26, 2020 | 12:00 PM

The City of North Battleford is reminding residents their property taxes are due at the end of September.

Mayor Ryan Bater says the deadline was previously changed to give people more time to pay their taxes, due to the impact of COVID-19.

“Typically the deadline is at the end of June,” Mayor Ryan Bater said. “We extended it this year because of the pandemic. That announcement was made back in March.”

He said the city provided people additional time to pay, in an effort to help with their household cash flow situation during a difficult period.

The city indicated on its website it will apply a penalty of 1.8 per cent to any outstanding 2020 tax amounts starting Oct. 1st.

Residents also have the option to use the city’s Tax Installment Payment Plan Service to make partial payments throughout the year, instead of in one lump sum.

To participate in the program, they need to make sure their tax account is current in order to begin right away. Payments are done by direct withdrawal and occur on the 10th day of each month, or the next business day after that time.
