Sep 8, 2020 | 4:53 PM

The Wollaston Lake RCMP have reported as of this morning at 4 a.m., the bodies of a 16-year-old and 18-year-old male were located deceased.

According to a media release, on Sept. 7 at 10:30 p.m. three males, a 16-year-old, 14-year-old and an 18-year-old male took a canoe from the barge dock and attempted to paddle across Welcome Bay to the T-dock. Their canoe flipped in the process and all three fell into the water. The weather was windy at the time and the temperature was about five degrees Celsius.

The 14-year-old made it to shore safely. After the RCMP received reports of the incident within minutes many members of the community as well as the Canadian Rangers used boats to search for the missing males.

In the early hours of this morning the two males were found deceased and the next of kin have been notified. The Saskatchewan Coroner’s Service now has carriage of the investigation.
