JPII announce new administrative team ahead of school year

John Paul II Collegiate has announced their new administrative team ahead of the fall school year.

Due to an unexpected departure at the principal position within the school, former vice principals, Tracie Harty and Bruce Yockey have been appointed as co-principals for the upcoming 2020-21 school year. Frazer Donahue will assume the role of vice principal.

Yockey and Harty have served as co-vice principals the last couple of years at the school, something Yockey said should make the transition to working together in an elevated role, a pretty smooth transition.

“We both have a pretty good understanding of what each other’s strengths are, and Tracie is excellent to work with,” Yockey said. “She is very organized and very punctual and really blends well with my background working with teams and collaborations as well, so I think we complement each other well.”

Harty said that team-working aspect will be a critical component to the school’s success this year, perhaps more than ever. Especially with still much uncertainty regarding how the school year will play out due to the ongoing pandemic.

“We’re looking forward to having our students really come together, while providing that high-quality education John Paul II is known for,” Harty said. “The unknown I think is going to be the biggest challenge and keeping those stresses at bay. We don’t know everything that is going to happen, but we are going to ensure that we are prepared and continue to keep our school community informed as we move forward.”

Vice principal, Donahue added he’s looking forward to joining both Yockey and Harty within the core admin team at JPII.

“I’m just really excited for the opportunity to be involved with such a great leadership team here at the school and to welcome all our students and staff back and support them in any way that I can this year,” he said.

Harty said together, the three are confident heading into the new school year, regardless of what unique challenges may lie ahead. She said they are excited to welcome the school community back for the fall semester.

“We’re really looking forward to having our students and staff back in the building, as we’ve missed them,” Harty said. “We know our staff are ready to get back with our students and it’s going to be exciting, as it’s going to be a very unique school year this year, but I truly believe that our relationships we’ve built with our students over the years will really support those students in coming back.”

The administration staff announcement comes on the eve of the teacher’s return to school Thursday morning, for the first official day of work within the new school year.
