RCMP request public assistance in locating armed robbery suspect

Battlefords RCMP are asking the public to be on the lookout for the suspect of an armed robbery in North Battleford.

At approximately 3:20 a.m. today, a lone male entered the 7-Eleven on the 1700 block of 100 Street, demanding cash. The male threatened staff and left with a small amount of money. He’s said to be approximately 30 years old, between 5-9 to 6-0 tall, wearing a black bunny hug, with grey sweat pants and light brown work boots.

Sgt. Jason Teniuk said while this sort of crime has been frequent in the past for the region, this year has been abnormally low on armed robberies and thefts.

“Domestic and drug related crimes are up, but situations like this, particularly armed robbery, are down,” Teniuk said.

If anyone has any information on this situation, or any other crime in the Battlefords, residents are asked to contact Battlefords RCMP or Crime Stoppers.

“We heavily rely on the public in these types of situations,” Teniuk said.

However, Teniuk said residents should only alert law enforcement and avoid any kind of interaction with the individual.

“We obviously don’t want people approaching anybody, because we don’t know what exactly the status is of the [suspect],” he said.

The investigation is ongoing.
