‘A great day to get a coffee,’ Tim Hortons celebrates Camp Day

Aug 12, 2020 | 2:11 PM

Wednesday has been a big day for Tim Hortons locations across the country as Aug. 12 marks Camp Day, the largest annual fundraiser for the Tim Hortons Foundation Camps.

Camp Day is designed to help give disadvantaged youth the opportunity to attend summer camp. Over the past four decades, the initiative has helped more than 295,000 youth do just that.

Glenn Isaac is the owner of a local Tim Hortons location in North Battleford, and one in Meadow Lake. He said as a locally-owned establishment, it makes them especially proud to take part in initiatives such as Camp Day, designed towards helping others within the community.

“We’re part of the community and we’re locally owned, so it’s nice to be a part of something that affects the community in such a positive way and helps people who may need it be able to attend summer camp,” Isaac said.

Last year, Camp Day raised more than $12.3 million to go towards the Tim Hortons Foundation Camps.

Isaac said the local establishments are dedicated to continuing to do their part in contributing; adding that the community support for the initiative this year has been nothing short of outstanding once again.

“This year we’re donating all sales of coffee products: so your hot coffees, your iced coffees, all get donated to the foundation making it a great day to get a coffee,” he said. “It’s been really good support from our community again this year too, and we appreciate everybody and hope to do our part and even increase our funding this year.”
