Man arrested on Mosquito First Nation charged with five offences

The suspect accused of uttering threats and brandishing a firearm in Mosquito First Nation last week, has been charged.

In the early afternoon of August 6, Battlefords RCMP received a report of an adult male suspect who threatened to shoot a family member and any responding police officers.

Law enforcement then secured the residence located on the town site of Mosquito First Nation, where the suspect was reported to be inside. The male was arrested without incident after exiting the residence and he did not have a firearm in his possession at the time of the arrest.

Following the investigation, 38-year-old Jacob Owen Moosomin of Mosquito First Nation was charged with four firearm related offences, including possession while unauthorized, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, careless use and pointing a firearm. He was also charged with uttering threats.
