Theatre lovers will have an opportunity to take in some free live entertainment in Battleford coming up.

Battlefords Community Players will perform the play Hamlette, a comedic send-up based on the classic tale.

The show will be performed outside on the lawn, behind the Battlefords Community Players Clubhouse at 102 – 26th Street in Battleford. The show will run tonight at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., weather permitting. Donations are welcome.

Battlefords Community Players (BCP) executive producer Donna Challis invites people to come see the show. Social-distancing circle pods have been created on the grounds to separate households, and regulations are in place to comply with the province’s COVID-19 precautions. Hand sanitizers and facemasks are also available on site.

The show has been playing since last week.

“It’s going over quite well,” Challis said. “We had 29 people there last night. That is about as many as we can put in our controlled area.”

She said everything is running smoothly.

“We just felt we wanted to do some summer theatre,” Challis said. “We want to let people know we are alive and well. It has shown people are hungry for entertainment, based on the number of people who have come out to our last performances.”
