Two suspects from the parental abduction case in Unity earlier this week have been charged with multiple offences under the Criminal Code.

According to a media release from the Unity RCMP, a father and his brother were charged with breaking and entering, uttering threats, abduction, assault and possession of a firearm for a dangerous purpose.

On Tuesday officers from Unity RCMP investigated a report of three children taken by their father from their mother’s residence, allegedly leaving the area in a truck with the father’s brother. Concerned for the safety of the children, police notified surrounding detachments and began the process of issuing an Amber Alert, which was later called off.

Following investigation revealed the suspects were traveling near Maidstone. Both were arrested along Highway 4 near the Matador grid south of Kyle, the release said. The children were located safe and sound shortly after, at a residence in Maidstone with an adult female.
