Nutrien Children’s Festival Online and Free in August

Jul 23, 2020 | 10:34 AM

The Nutrien Children’s Festival of Saskatchewan is an arts-based festival where our children play and learn.

We cultivate a passion for curiosity and exploration in children through diversified and multicultural programming.

Our programming is progressive – it evolves to reflect our community, it enhances children’s educational experiences, and most importantly, it encourages children to try something fun and new!

This year, the Children’s Festival is celebrating its 32nd year of bringing the arts to the children of Saskatchewan.

With Covid-19, we had to make the heartbreaking decision to cancel onsite activities. However, we have spent the past few months coming up with options on what we could do for the children of Saskatchewan…especially when so many children are feeling isolated, scared, and alone.

As such, we decided that this was the perfect year for the Festival to give back to the province that has supported us for so many years. We will be offering programming online daily for the full month of August, all completely free of charge.

On each “school day” (Monday-Friday) during August, we will present a selection of the top children’s music, theatre, dance, and circus performers as well as a variety of workshops for kids to take part in.

All performances and workshops will be presented on our homepage via our YouTube channel so that children across the province are able to view the Festival on any device they have access to.

As well, the performances won’t be up for just the day they premiere but for the entire month so no one misses out on a show or activity.

In addition, we will be sending out 2,000 Swag Bags throughout the province to children that register to receive one …. again, all free of charge. These Swag Bags will contain items from the artists performing, gifts from some of our sponsors, and cool activities to do at home.

We realize that not all households have access to the internet via a computer, iPad, phone, etc. and we want to do our utmost to make sure all children are included in the Festival in some way.

We strongly believe that the children of Saskatchewan have felt what is going on globally in a profound way. This is our way of reaching out to them and letting them know they are not alone and that we will all get through this together if we move forward with compassion and love.

We would greatly appreciate it if you could share this information so that as many children as possible from across the province can take part. We’d love to help make their summer as fun and educational as possible while still letting them know how special and valued they are.

Please be sure to check out our programming on our homepage: nutrienchildrensfestival.com

In addition, we will be sharing updates on our programming and community activities via our social media sites: www.facebook.com/childrensfestsk and Instagram @childrensfestsk.
