This is a 1985 interview from the North Battleford Oral History Project under the direction of the North Battleford Heritage Committee. SEE VIDEO BELOW

These interviews are of great value for the study of the history of Saskatchewan.

Mrs. Bailey came to Canada in 1903 from England.

She arrived in Saskatoon where her father was to be the advanced agent for the Barr Colonists. No money was available to purchase supplies for the the colonists so he came to North Battleford.

Later they found out that Rev. Barr had gone to the United States with the colonists money.

They took up a homestead between North Battleford and Brada. She married Walter H. Bailey in 1926 and farmed in the Highworth district.

She comments on her family and their accomplishments and describes the effects of the depression on her life. They later left the area for a number of years. Widowed, Mrs. Bailey once again returned to North Battleford in 1965.
