Jun 3, 2020 | 4:00 PM

A Hafford man has been charged in connection with child pornography offences after numerous complaints were received about a man attempting to access illicit material online.

The Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit has charged a man from Hafford with child pornography offences in relation to an investigation that began in February of many complaints about a person accessing child pornography through a popular internet search engine.

Staff Sgt. Scott Lambie told meadowlakeNOW approximately eight complaints were received through the search engine.

On Tuesday, members of the Saskatchewan ICE Unit with the assistance of Blaine Lake RCMP, executed a search warrant at a home in Hafford which was identified as the location where the offences were taking place. Child pornography was found at the residence and a laptop and USB storage devices were seized for further forensic analysis.

Kelly Beleznay, 55, of Hafford, was arrested at his home and has been charged with possession of child pornography and accessing child pornography.

He was held in custody overnight and appeared in Saskatchewan Provincial Court in Saskatoon where he was remanded for a show cause hearing on June 5.

The Saskatchewan ICE Unit is comprised of investigators from the RCMP, Regina Police Service, Saskatoon Police Service, and Prince Albert Police Service. Their mandate is to investigate crimes involving the abuse and/or exploitation of children on the internet.
