Two drivers charged for driving over speed limits near North Battleford

Two drivers were charged by the RCMP near North Battleford for driving in excess of 50 km/h over the applicable speed limit.

On May 29, at approximately 6:11 p.m., a Saskatchewan RCMP North Battleford Traffic Services Unit officer was conducting enforcement when they caught a vehicle on radar going 132 km/h in an 80 km/h zone. The 19-year-old male driver was issued a summary offence ticket for $820 and was charged under the Traffic Safety Act for speeding in excess of 50km/h over the posted speed limit.

On May 30, at approximately 6:28 p.m. the Traffic Services Unit was conducting enforcement when they caught a vehicle on radar driving at a speed of 136 km/h in an 80 km/h zone. The 17-year-old male driver was also charged under the Traffic Safety Act for speeding in excess of 50 km/h over the posted speed. The driver was also issued a summary offence ticket for $865. The driver’s license was also suspended for three days in Saskatchewan and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
