The public and the media were not permitted to attend the sentencing decisions Friday due to the province’s pandemic precaution measures in place. The court informed the media of the decisions afterwards. All appearances were held via video-link and phone.

The court ordered a publication ban on all details of the hearings, including evidence, and victim impact statements until the judge or jury, depending on the matter, involving all the other six accused have retired to consider their verdict.

Laverdiere, 25, was reported missing on May 12, 2019. She was last seen in North Battleford on May 1, 2019. Human remains were found in a rural area outside North Battleford on July 11 and confirmed to be the Edmonton woman on July 16.
