North Battleford Mayor eager to hear Scott Moe’s Reopen Saskatchewan Plan

Premier Scott Moe addressed the province last night about how the people of Saskatchewan have contributed to flattening the curve.

North Battleford Mayor Ryan Bater watched Scott Moe’s address and was happy to hear the measures that they have implemented have been contributing to Saskatchewan’s success.

“The measures that we have all been taking have been working, are working and will continue to work,” he said. “I said that in the past, present and future tense for a reason, because we can’t let up on a lot of these measures. We can’t just start ignoring what we’ve been doing,” he added.

Bater recognized while the measures in place have been working, it is important to stay vigilant. He said the premier’s announcement today will be very important for everyone in the province to hear.

“I really encourage people to pay attention because the premier was very careful about saying this will have to be very slow and very gradual. Distancing measures will have to be maintained,” he said.

Bater said it will be good for the people of Saskatchewan to get a sense of the types of businesses and operations that will be allowed to gradually reopen in the near future.

“This isn’t just a complete abandoning of everything we’ve done. It seems to be mostly tailored to which kind of businesses or enterprises will be able to open in a series of phases,” he said.

Knowing there is a plan in place to reopen the province should provide some solace to people who have been wondering when the COVID-19 pandemic will end. Bater said the people of Saskatchewan have had to sacrifice a lot to keep the public safe.

“We have talked a lot about all the sacrifices people have made,” Bater said. “The uncertainty has been what has created some anxiety with people and I think this will address that.”

Scott Moe will be unveiling their Reopen Saskatchewan plan this morning at 10:30 a.m.
