RCMP seized illegal cannabis and other drugs during a traffic stop near Maidstone.

In the afternoon of March 21, the provincial RCMP Roving Traffic Unit was patrolling Highway 16 near Maidstone and stopped an eastbound car for speeding.

While speaking with the male driver, police believed he was in possession of illegal drugs and searched the car.

The search of the vehicle revealed 848 grams of dried cannabis, 1,774 grams of cannabis edibles, seven grams of psilocybin (magic mushrooms), a can of bear spray, and $620 in cash.

The driver, 26-year-old Chase Matthew Bagan, was charged with possession of cannabis for the purpose of distribution, possession of psilocybin, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and carrying a concealed weapon.

Bagan will make his first provincial court appearance in Lloydminster on June 9.
