Battlefords Agricultural Society committed to rescheduling postponed events

The Battlefords Agricultural Society has had to postpone two upcoming events due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their Evening Out and Agri-Mex events were both postponed by the Ag Society on Monday.

Jocelyn Ritchie with the Battlefords Agriculture Society said they are committed to reschedule these events at a later date instead of an outright cancellation.

“Hopefully when everything clears up we will be able to have a great event,” she said.

They have contacted the entertainers they had lined up for their Evening Out event and confirmed they will be back for the rescheduled event, whenever that may be.

“We have contacted our entertainers and they have agreed to come back when we reschedule. So we will have Jaydee Bixby and everybody at our event,” she said.

Ritchie said they have been reaching out to all the vendors that were set to come to the Agri-Mex Trade show April 3 and 4 to let them know that they plan to reschedule.

“Same thing, we are just postponing it. We will definitely have it. We have contacted all of our exhibitors and almost everybody has been very understanding,” she said.

Ritchie said they will also be issuing credits to vendors for their future shows so that they can hopefully have a successful event.

The final decision to postpone both events came down on Monday, before the local ban on public events was announced. Ritchie said although it was a tough decision they wanted to have the public’s best interest in mind.

“At that time it was limited, and we had a big hall and were going to limit our attendance so we had lots of space. We had some safe food handling in hand as well but decided that we aren’t going to risk it at this time,” she said.

Ritchie noted that although the event has been postponed they will still be drawing their raffle ticket winners to comply with their SLGA license.

“We will still be making our raffle draw on Saturday for the trip for two on WestJet, which is good for a year, and the wheelbarrow of booze. We will post the winners online and contact them,” she said.
