Luncheon talk on Sacichawasihc Relationship Agreement postponed

Mar 17, 2020 | 9:16 AM

People looking forward to hearing more about the Sacichawasihc Relationship Agreement at an upcoming talk will have to wait a little longer.

Mamawicihitowin/Working Together, the luncheon event scheduled for April 3 has been postponed.

The Battlefords Regional Community Coalition partners were to be present for the event to discuss their work so far. The gathering was a chance for people to meet the seven leaders in the partnership.

Project Manager Herb Sutton said the regional leaders opted not to go ahead with the event yet due to the COVID-19 situation.

“We’ve made the decision to postpone the April 3 Battlefords Regional Community Coalition roll-out event because of what has happened with COVID-19, and the direction from the province,” he said.

The gathering will be re-scheduled sometime in the future.

“We have to be respectful of the rules that are being set out,” he added. “We want to be good citizens just like everybody else.”

Sutton told the Town of Battleford council at Monday’s meeting that so far close to 200 people have registered to attend the free event.

He said the positive response is good news, but it will mean there will be a lot of work for organizers to contact all those people to notify them the event has been postponed.

“I’m asking you to please stay tuned,” he said. “We will host the event at some point in time, we just don’t know exactly when that will be right now.”
