Accused in Sequin Mooswa homicide has case adjourned to obtain legal counsel

The accused in the Sequin Mooswa homicide investigation had his matter adjourned while he obtains legal counsel.

Keenan Mirasty, 21, who is charged with second-degree murder in relation to the death of Sequin Mooswa, appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court Thursday via CCTV.

Mirasty was arrested March 10 after police attended a home for a check well-being request on March 8 and located Mooswa deceased. An autopsy was completed March 9.

Mirasty, who remains in custody, plans to contact legal aid to arrange his legal counsel.

His case is scheduled to return to court April 8.

The RCMP Major Crimes Unit North, RCMP Forensic Identification Section, Saskatchewan Coroners Service and the RCMP National Forensic Identification Support Services from Edmonton continue to assist with the investigation.
