North Battleford man facing second-degree murder charge related to woman’s death

A North Battleford man is facing a charge of second-degree murder related to a woman who was found deceased in a home Sunday.

Police reported Tuesday that North Battleford RCMP received a request to check on the well-being of a 22-year-old woman on March 8. When police responded to the home on the 1900 block of St. Laurent Dr. they located the woman who was deceased.

The RCMP Major Crimes Unit North, RCMP Forensic Identification Section, Saskatchewan Coroners Service and the RCMP National Forensic Identification Support Services from Edmonton are assisting with the investigation.

Police say an autopsy was completed on March 9 in Saskatoon.

Keenan Mirasty, 21, was charged with second-degree murder in relation to the death of Sequin Mooswa.

Mirasty who is in custody made his first court appearance in North Battleford Provincial Court Tuesday. His case has been adjourned to March 12 at 11 a.m. when he will appear via CCTV.
