Maidstone RCMP made a major drug seizure after pulling over a speeding vehicle on Feb. 27.

Officers stopped an eastbound vehicle on Highway 16 for travelling 174 km/h in a 110 km/h zone.

After speaking with the 25-year-old driver and her 23-year-old male passenger, officers began a drug investigation. Both occupants were arrested and a search warrant was obtained before Mounties searched the vehicle.

Hidden inside were four vacuum sealed bags of suspected crack cocaine that totalled over 370 grams. The amount is equivalent to 3,700 single doses of the drug. Police also found a loaded pistol.

Manal Ali Fawaz, born 1994, of Edmonton and Garnett O’Connor, born 1996, also of Edmonton were charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a prohibited firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, and other firearm related charges.

Both appeared in Lloydminster Provincial Court today.
