Mar 1, 2020 | 1:18 AM

The Battlefords North Stars fell 3-1 to the rival Klippers in Kindersley Saturday night, to close out their regular season at the West Central Events Centre.

Liam Fraser scored the game winner for the Klippers with his team-leading 30th of the season while Noah Lindsay and Ethan King also cashed in for the team and Steven Bacovsky stopped 25-of-26 North Stars’ shots.

Quintin Loon-Stewardson also hit the 30-goal plateau for the Stars on the night, scoring the lone Battlefords’ marker in the loss, while Adam Dmyterko made 27 saves on 30 Klippers’ shots.

Despite the loss, the Stars cap their campaign with a league-best, 45-11-2 record, giving them 92 points overall and the top seed heading into the playoffs.

The Stars will now play the waiting game to determine their opponent in Round 1, between Humboldt and Nipawin.

With a 2-0 loss in their final game of the year Saturday, Nipawin wrap their season with 64 points. Humboldt sit just back of the Hawks with 63 points, but with a game remaining, control their own fate.

Humboldt will play Melville Tuesday night at the Elgar Petersen Arena in their final game of the season. If the Broncos win, they will finish in seventh place and the Stars will play Nipawin; if not, the Stars will play Humboldt in the first round.
