Accused in Thunderchild First Nation murder case still awaits bail hearing

A man charged in connection to a homicide on the Thunderchild First Nation in 2018 remains in custody as he awaits a bail hearing.

Ivor Antoine Wapass, 44, is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Roger Standingwater, 57, on Sept. 15, 2018. Wapass was arrested Nov. 1, 2019.

He appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court via CCTV Tuesday.

Crown prosecutor Suzanne Reid said the date of the bail hearing is anticipated for Feb. 13 at Queen’s Bench Court in Battleford but still needs to confirm the date.
