Three adults are facing drug-related charges following an investigation that stemmed from a police traffic stop.

Battlefords RCMP report a traffic stop led to a residence search in which the controlled drugs and substances act charges were laid.

RCMP report when they pulled over a vehicle during a patrol Tuesday, the adult male driver, who did not have identification, provided a name that police quickly determined to be false.

The driver was arrested, and refused to identify himself to police. Police report an adult female passenger in the vehicle was cooperative and was identified.

During a vehicle search police located items that led them to believe it may have been involved in drug trafficking.

As a result, the RCMP Battlefords Street Enforcement Team executed a search warrant at a residence on the 700 block of 102 St. in North Battleford and arrested six adults and two youths found inside.

In the subsequent search, police located a significant amount of crystal methamphetamine, cocaine, Canadian currency, prescription medications, packaging materials, several hundred rounds of ammunition, and a firearm.

Three adults are currently facing charges.

Shannon Soosay, 37, of Samson First Nation, Alta., is facing charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine; possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine; possession of property obtained by crime; and possession of a weapon while prohibited from doing so.

Dennis Starchief, 38, of North Battleford, is charged with: four counts of breach of an undertaking; possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine; and possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine.

Starchief is also facing charges for breaching conditions of his release related to separate charges of Oct. 26.

Soosay, Dwinnell and Starchief were remanded into custody and appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court Thursday morning.
