Holiday Twinkle tour celebrating the holiday spirit in the Battlefords

Nov 27, 2019 | 2:00 PM

A colourful display of the holiday spirit is back for another year in the Battlefords.

This will mark the second year for the Holiday Twinkle Tour, brought to you by CJNB and the City of North Battleford.

The event is a guided tour through the Battlefords where participants can take in all the beautifully decorated houses and businesses for the Christmas season.

Communication Administrator for the City of North Battleford Dustin MacDonald said the event is a great way to build some community spirit through the holiday season.

“The Twinkle Tour is a celebration of lights and the City of North Battleford. It encourages residents and businesses to decorate their homes with lights and other decorations and register their homes for the tour,” he said.

Registration for stops on the tour is open to everyone. To enter, residents have to become a CJNB VIP by registering on their website. From there you can register your home or business for the 2019 Holiday Twinkle Tour.

The deadline to register for the tour is December 13.

The tour will take place on December 19. Starting at 6 p.m. everyone is welcome to come in their own vehicle and join the guided tour that will be leaving from the Civic Centre parking lot.

While the tour is happening, participants can tune in to Saskatchewan Country CJNB for an evening of Christmas music and a running commentary of the displays. A map will be made available. They will also have a special guest for the night: Mayor Ryan Bater.

There will be prizes awarded to the best decorated house. The winner of the best decorated house will receive a plaque that they can display in their home, a plaque that will displayed at city hall, and a prize package from Magic Lantern Theatres.

MacDonald said there will also be a prizes awarded to the best decorated street. The winners will receive a street blade sign to be hung on the block, a plaque at city hall, and a prize package from the CUplex for the entire block.

“We are encouraging residents to link up with their neighbours and create the best decorated block in the city with a chance to win some prizes,” he said.

The event will wrap up at the Western Development Museum (WDM) where there will be free Tim Hortons coffee or hot beverage and a bonfire. Judges will announce the winners at the WDM.
