Residents asked to participate in joint parks and recreation master plan survey

Nov 15, 2019 | 3:29 PM

To ensure parks and recreation needs in both communities are met, North Battleford and Battleford are working together to develop a joint master plan.

The plan will assess the current state of spaces, facilities, programs and activities in both communities and make recommendations on services to meet the needs in both communities over the next decade.

Community consultation is critical to the development of this plan, according to the city. As such, they ask community partners, organizations, and residents to share their thoughts on the current situation and future needs.

A survey will be sent out to residents in November and December to gather feedback. The mail out will include an access code that will be required to complete the online survey.

“Recreation and parks services and programs help improve our overall health, strengthen families, and enhance the entire Battlefords community,” Mayor Ryan Bater said in a media release.

Mayor Ames Leslie encouraged people to provide their input.

“This is an important project that will guide how parks and recreation services in our community are provided for years to come,” he said.

The recreation master plan is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2020.
