A preliminary inquiry will soon be set for the co-accused in the death of Mark Douglas Jonson.

David Keller, 47, who remains in custody, is facing a first-degree murder charge in Jonson’s homicide investigation. He appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court via closed-circuit television Thursday.

Defence attorney Erin Little, appearing by phone, said she and the Crown will seek a preliminary hearing in but need time to discuss how long they require for the matter.

The case was adjourned to Nov. 7 when dates will be set for the inquiry to determine if there is sufficient evidence for trial.

A bail hearing was held for Keller at Court of Queen’s Bench in Battleford on Sept. 26 but the decision was not released at the time.

When contacted by battlefordsNOW Thursday afternoon, Crown prosecutor Steven Larocque confirmed Keller’s bail request was denied. A publication ban was previously imposed on the details of the hearing.

Jonson, 61, was found dead in a home on 15 Ave. and 100 St. on July 5.

The co-accused, 22-year-old Nicolas Buck will return to court Oct. 29. His bail supervision report is being complete. Buck, who remains in custody, is facing 10 charges, including first-degree murder in Jonson’s death.
