Investigation after death at Onion Lake RCMP

A 19-year-old man from Lloydminster was pronounced dead yesterday after he was found unconscious in the cell area at the Onion Lake RCMP detachment.

According to a media release from the Saskatchewan RCMP, CPR was attempted at 8 a.m. when the man was found unconscious. However, he could not be revived.

Moose Jaw Police Service will investigate the situation as requested by Saskatchewan RCMP in conformity with the RCMP Act and the name of the 19-year-old will not be released.

Also requested by the RCMP, an independent observer will conduct an external investigation assigned by the Ministry of Justice.
