Battlefords Humane Society takes in 21 dogs after removal from rural Saskatchewan
The Battlefords Humane Society (BHS) has had a very busy week.
The BHS has taken in 21 dogs that were part of 31 removed from a rural area in Saskatchewan. Out of the 21 dogs 14 were puppies and 7 were adult dogs. As a result of that they found themselves caring for 43 dogs in a facility that is designed to hold 27.
A lot of the dogs that were taken in last week were very emaciated and therefore cannot be vaccinated or spayed until they return to a healthy body weight.
Shelter Coordinator Michelle Spark said dogs that are emaciated take a lot of extra care to return to being healthy.
