North Stars return home, hoping for repeat performance against Klippers

Sep 14, 2019 | 8:00 AM

The Battlefords North Stars wasted no time getting off to a hot start to the season Friday, as the team put up a touchdown against the rival Klippers to take their season opener 7-1.

The Stars will now look to repeat the feat Saturday with another standout performance against that same Klippers hockey club, as the team will host their home opener at the North Battleford Civic Centre.

Perhaps even more impressive than the raw total of goals the team scored in their season opener is that seven different Stars’ players scored for the team in Friday’s victory.

Because of the offensive explosion, there will be just two lineup changes for the Stars ahead of Saturday night’s contest.

The lone change up front will see first-year forward Palmer Sinclair enter the lineup alongside Matthias Urbanski and Dace Prymak, on the team’s ‘third line.’

Sinclair is the younger brother of former North Star MacGregor Sinclair who led the team in scoring last season.

Palmer, in his own right, brings additional offensive punch to the team Saturday. The Irma, AB., product scored 26 goals and 47 points with the Wainwright Polar Kings last season in Midget AA.

On the back end, rookie defenceman Walter Somers will also draw in for his season debut as well.

A right-hand shot with an abrasive, physical game, Somers will be paired with lefty Liam Antoniuk on the Stars’ third defensive pairing.

Goaltender Adam Dmyterko who stopped 33 of 34 shots against Friday night, will get the start once again Saturday, for the back-half of the team’s home-and-home.

Saturday’s game will be broadcasted on 1050 CJNB. The Ultra-Print Pregame Show will begin at 7:15 p.m. with puck drop to follow at 7:30 p.m.
