Fall Festival takes over downtown North Battleford

Sep 14, 2019 | 8:48 AM

Leaves were wrapped around benches and pumpkins sat on hay bails as hundreds descended on downtown North Battleford for the Fall Festival.

The event included a stage with live music, food vendors, a beer garden, pie-making contest, chilli cook-off, sidewalk sale, car show, farmers market, children’s activities, cookie decorating and a car show.

Downtown Business Improvement District (BID) Executive Director Misty Lavertu was pleased with the early turnout and thankful the weather held up after a string of rainy days – more so as the event was rained out last year.

“It looks beautiful downtown this time of year and we wanted to take advantage of, I hate to say it, but the last few weeks of summer and we lucked out,” she said.

She wanted the event to draw people downtown to show that it is a welcome, friendly place for the community to gather.

Lavertu admits the event is a learning year for organizers and personally hopes it will be bigger and better next years, hopefully doubling in size.

The event runs until 6 p.m.
