Falk hosts meet and greet, readies for federal election

Getting an early start on the fall election, Battlefords-Lloydminster Conservative MP Rosemarie Falk visited her constituency office in North Battleford for a meet and greet with residents on Friday.

The MP said she wants to ensure there are no cuts to education or health funding to the provinces.

“I think at the end of the day what this election is going to be about is affordability – and if Canadians want life to be more affordable, or more unaffordable,” she said, adding a Conservative government would ensure life is more affordable.

Falk said if Canada elects a Conservative government, leader Andrew Scheer’s first act will be to repeal the carbon tax. She said many provinces are opposed to the tax and want to reduce emissions with their own efforts.

Helping farmers is also on her list.

Falk said China’s ban on Canadian beef imports is a problem that needs to be resolved soon. She said Saskatchewan beef producers have said they feel as though they are not being heard.

“We need a government that is going to take action when something like this happens with China,” Falk said. “This … should not have even gotten to this point. This should have been resolved a long time ago.”

Working to reduce rural crime is a further priority for the Conservative party, Falk said, adding that offenders should be held accountable for their crimes.

Falk said residents in the riding are saying they are not happy with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the Liberal government and want to make Trudeau a one-term prime minister.

Falk plans to tour her four constituency offices in the riding. She was in Lloydminster and Unity last week and is in Kerrobert on Aug. 24.
